In a no holds barred hearty interview with the ever bubbly Eddie Blay, the new host for the revived Celebrity Night Show on eTV, one of Ghana’s burgeoning entertainment and news channels, Nana Ekua Amoah known in showbiz circles as Mzbel has shared what she believes are key to her career as a musician and even more so as a mother.
Spotting a colorful Kente dress with an exquisite low cut hair, the vibrant musician who seemed very cozy and comfortable on set spoke freely in the manner that has come to be associated with the Mzbel brand. A keen observer will not think of it as an interview but a friendly conversation between friends, in this case, host and guest. This was evident in the manner in which the host, Eddy seemed to be having fun, to the point where he failed to read the countless messages viewers sent in over the one hour the show run.
While speaking on what her greatest challenge has been as a musician, she emphasized that the perception many carry about her, and the resultant abuse on traditional and social media does sometime get to her. She was quick to add however that, even though she seldom puts up personal fights, she will give all it takes to defend his family and most importantly her children from the prying coldness the world serves. Same prying coldness that has driven her as a celebrity to take up social causes and to impact society positively, most especially the young girls of the Jamestown community.
While conceding that there is as much as she can do, she did indicate that through events like the Monthly ‘Seductive Fridays’ Sessions, and the Annual Mzbel Rockz Concert she is able to leverage support from corporate bodies in raising the necessary fund to put into these projects.
Touching on the 2016 edition of the concert, Mzbel stated that there had been the need to shift the event from February as was staged the previous year, to 1st May at the Bukom Square, to enable her and the team re-direct energies at making the concert more beneficial to the community. She did also say that as part of activities, she is starting a programme to aid young mothers and school dropouts within the Jamestown community acquire a living skill.
It appears the young looking mother of four has no intentions of slowing down.
